In 2017, the Town of Evans began the process of re-writing its Local Waterfront Revitalization Program or LWRP. Local laws are based on U.S. law which is based on British Common Law which is based on Roman law. Rights of the general public to access the waterfront goes back several thousand years. These laws are commonly referred to as the Public Trust Doctrine.
From Wiki: "The public trust doctrine is the principle that the sovereign holds in trust for public use some resources such as shoreline between the high and low tide lines, regardless of private property ownership."
The purpose of this document is to list all the access points in the Town of Evans and law pertaining to the public's right to access the waterfront. |
